Chocolate brownie recipe

You will likely hear that there are foods and drinks like lactation cookies and teas, that can help build your milk supply; but there is limited scientific evidence to support this claim. Want a snack? Eat this brownie instead!

I love this brownie for breastfeeding mamas because:

  • it's quick and easy to make

  • super satisfying and filling

  • you can eat it with one hand!

  • it can easily be made vegan

  • good for people with egg or dairy allergies

  • something you can make with your kids – because it’s egg free you don’t have to worry about your toddler eating the raw batter!

  • unlike many lactation cookies, it’s not loaded with sugar

Chocolate brownies

400 gr can of chickpeas – rinsed and drained

325 gr peanut butter (or other nut butter)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup maple syrup

120 gr melted chocolate (use a dark chocolate to make this recipe vegan or dairy free)

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp bicarb soda

1 & ¼ cups plain flour

2 heaped teaspoons cocoa powder

Pinch salt

Preheat the oven at 150 degrees.

Whizz everything together in the food processor until combined. Pour into a brownie tin lined with baking paper and bake for 30 minutes.

I wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the Whadjuk Noongar Boodja, and their Elders past and present. The land that I birthed on and raise my daughter on.
